As the most exotic and tropical location in the entire United States, Hawaii definitely earns its reputation for being an incredible vacation destination. The Aloha State conjures up many indelible images to people around the world: leis, lush greenery, imposingly high volcanoes, gorgeous beaches - some with black sand - and a wonderfully friendly culture. Indeed, Hawaii is the place to go if you are looking for a vacation in the truest sense of the word: peace, relaxation, serenity and unforgettable good times. Aside from all the delicious food and amazing summer recipes you’ll come back with, here, I will give you a general overview of some of Hawaii’s most impressive and must-see sights.
One of the first and most obvious attractions about the state of Hawaii is its top of the line, world famous beaches. And for the epitome of an excellent Hawaiian beach, one should look no further than Waikiki Beach. This is, quite possibly, the most famous beach in the entire world and it certainly earns that distinction handily. Located just outside of Honolulu, Waikiki Beach offers the best of both worlds when it comes to beach entertainment. For the more adventurous among us, there is stellar surfing at this place. Some of the best surfers in the world make stops at Waikiki, because its waves are consistently phenomenal for surfing. On the other hand, if you prefer gentler seas and calmer wading in warm, clean water, Waikiki Beach can accommodate you, too. A huge portion of this beach is just right for people who simply want to soak in the water under the beautiful Hawaiian sun. Of all the beaches I’ve seen in Hawaii, Waikiki is the one that stands out the most; it is the perfect beach.
Another reason why so many people flock to Hawaii for their holidays is because of its abundant, natural beauty. All along its many islands, one can find incredibly pristine examples of some of the most luxurious plants and flowers imaginable. The many volcanoes that dot these islands - both active and dormant - create an unforgettable backdrop, and are generally covered by lush greenery. When set off against the often bright blue skies, these mountainous wonders really add to the ambiance of this place. I’ve hiked and backpacked all over the world, and can safely say that some of the most amazing trails can be found in Hawaii. One spot I highly recommend is known as the Kalalau Trail; if you only have time for one real hike while in Hawaii, make it this one.
Finally, I would be remiss not to mention one of the most amazing national parks in the United States, which can be found on Hawaii’s Big Island. Known as Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, this place has to be one of the curious and mesmerizing parks that you will ever step foot in. Any trip to Hawaii absolutely must include a stop at this incredible place; two of the most active volcanoes in the entire world are located within its boundaries.
