Famous Movie Vacation Destinations

Thinking of famous movie vacation destinations sparks the idea of hitting the road and treating yourself to a storybook time. You might ask yourself, “where will you go” and you know what, it is of no concern as long as you go everywhere you possibly can. Right outside your backdoor is wonderful, but sometimes you just want to go a little bit further. Places like London, to watch the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, or taking a long look at Big Ben or the London Bridge. Perhaps you wander until you find yourself standing in Trafalgar Square, or visiting Westminster Abbey.

Traveling to famous movie destinations make you feel as if you have already been there, the scenery is so vivid, the art galleries come to life, the wonders of the world give you the chills. For example the scene in Spartacus with Kirk Douglas, as he fights against the Roman Empire, there is no way to forget the scenery or the detailed history lesson. Perhaps you have watched these scenes, having the movies bring them to life for you, but when you are actually there, you get to touch what movies and your mind have helped you to see already.

You have the Canals of Venice with its’ Gondoliers. The Eiffel Tower with its spanning sky line lighting the city of Paris as the city moves back and forth like a fine watch. Places that dreams are made of and picture post cards are sent from. Famous movie destinations brings us to the town of Williamsburg, Virginia with its’ Colonial history of a new nation struggling to be born, and the Alamo with its’ memories of unrelenting determination.

The classic movie the Hunchback of Notre Dame with the Notre Dame Cathedral as its backdrop has fascinated many a movie lover. There are so many places around the world that could be mentioned, Westside Story and settlers arriving in the California gold fields. The infamous Virgin Islands is such a well traveled destination with its’ Pirates lurking around every cove. You have so many movies, so many locations to choose from.

The list is so delightfully long. Make a list of places to travel and see what you have, an adventurous group of travels that could very easily turn into a theatre presentation. Get out and meet people and listen. Learn about the things that are unique to the area, some of the sleepiest little villages are so full of energy; you just have to find the wall socket to plug into it.

Traveling around the world visiting the areas of so much fame and history is intriguing. The movies set up such a remarkable set of circumstances. You have an opportunity to study the location the culture even street signs and hotels. You study a little bit of the language; you have an idea how responsive a culture is to your culture.

Places made famous by movies give you a great travel guide. You could not get a better book. The landscape is all laid out for you, buildings, locations and attire. The movies have done all of the research for you. After centuries of traveling to these destination, some famous some not so famous, they never lose their fascination, their mystery. You always seem to wonder what knowledge they might hold, to another time, another place, another people.
