Antonio Gaudí - whose full name was actually Antoni Plàcid Guillem Gaudí i Cornet - was one of the most famous and prolific architects from the country of Spain. He practiced primarily in the popular Art Nouveau style, and his amazing works can be found all over and around this huge country - but primarily in Barcelona. While Gaudi was born in the Catalan region of Spain, during his life he traveled all around his home country, designing and building some of the most unforgettable and amazing structures ever seen anywhere in the world. Selling a Gaudi monument is like selling gold.

Perhaps the most famous project of Gaudi’s life is a monument that is still not even complete. Scheduled to be finished - hopefully - in the year 2026, the Sagrada Familia is to be a huge Roman Catholic church in Barcelona. Construction first began on this amazing place back in the year 1882. This was by far Gaudi’s most ambitious project, and he was absolutely obsessed with it over the course of his life. In fact, Gaudi spent over 40 years of his life designing and building this incredible place. I consider this to be one of the absolute highlights of any trip to Barcelona, and urge anyone who comes to this amazing city to stop by and see it. It may not be finished yet, but what is already done is truly magnificent.

Gaudi did complete many other monuments during his life, though. Another one that he built in Barcelona, Spain is called the Casa Mila. This is most commonly and popular referred to as La Pedrera, and Gaudi built it for a married couple and is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I particularly find the rooftop architecture to be quite fascinating; the overall design of this iconic building, though, is very mesmerizing and unforgettable. If you are looking for some great examples of Gaudi’s work, then the Casa Mila is an absolute must see, and since it is conveniently located in Barcelona, it can add a great dimension to any vacation in this city.

Another phenomenal example of Gaudi’s work is known as the Parc Guell. Located in the Gracia district of Barcelona, this place was originally meant to be a housing development. However, after a famous Barcelona resident named Count Eusebi Güell who lived in a home at this site suggested for Gaudi to purchase a nearby home, Gaudi then moved in with his family. As he resided here, Gaudi designed the incredible monuments which make up what is today a very popular and much loved park in Barcelona. People from all over the city, and Spain, enjoy coming to this place thanks to its unique structures and the amazing designs that Gaudi so masterfully created. If you are spending time in Barcelona, take a pleasant afternoon to roam around the Parc Guell; it is sure to be a most entertaining and interesting time.
Gaudi had another unfinished project, not nearly as famous as the Sagrada Familia but still quite notable. This is the crypt of the Church of Colonia Guell. Gaudi was contracted to build this place for Count Eusebi de Güell; however, Guell ended up running out of money and so the project had to be abandoned. Today, visitors can explore the Gaudi monument and gain a better appreciation for the vision of this incredible man.
